Wall Mounting Your LCD TV
So, you got a new, flat screen Plasma or LCD television. Congratulations. You've probably got a perfect wall chosen to mount it on in your spare bedroom that will quickly become a refuge. There's only one question that remains - How to wall mount your flat screen TV?
The very first thing you should think about is whether you're planning to do it on your own or hire a pro. If you're undecided of any of the following, you're probably better off to hire someone to mount the TV. But, if you would like to dirty your hands a little and chance making goofs just to have a sense of accomplishment, by all means, keep reading.
Once you have picked the wall and set aside an hour or so to get this job done, it is important to figure out if the wall is an interior or exterior wall. While it's not so in every case, interior walls usually are less trouble than their exterior counterparts.
Of course, we are assuming that you've previously made sure that your flat screen LCD or Plasma TV can be wall mounted, right? In the event that you haven't done this yet, you shouldn't stress out. Although most flat screens that are on the market now are mountable, some early models weren't. Be sure to check the box. Do you see “VESA Compatible” or some variety of that? If it is there, you are in luck, and now you can proceed. Because you've done a little homework and picked out the appropriate wall mount bracket for your display, you can get right to the exciting part - tools. If you have some of the basic tools in your toolbox, like a tape measure, drill, and a screw driver, you will be good to go. It's also a good idea to have a stud finder so you don't wind up mounting your TV in only drywall.
Once you have an idea of where you would like the new flat screen, check for studs and make final placement modifications. do not forget to be sure that you're by an outlet or you'll just have a pointless screen on the wall. Once you've found a stud, go ahead and fasten the brackets to the back of the TV screen. You need to take care of this before you place the bracket on the wall so you are aware about any adjustments that should be made to the final placement.
Now, make a mark where the anchor bolts need to be installed and pre-drill the holes, since they can be a challenge to start. You should also go ahead and cut space for cabling at the time you place the anchors and then you can run the cables. Be certain that the mount is lined up and then sink the anchors. After the mount and brackets are attached, ask a friend for some help to lift the unit on to the wall. You shouldn't attempt to do this on your own because the units can be heavy and cumbersome if they're lifted by one person.
Now the very best part - kick back with a cold drink of choice and watch a movie on your brand new wall mounted Plasma flat screen TV.
