While many of us have worries of some sort or other in our lives we dont spend an unnecessarily large amount of time thinking about them. On the other hand people who constantly worry over anything and everything may be suffering from GAD otherwise known as generalized anxiety disorder. As with other types of anxiety disorders generalized anxiety disorder symptoms must be identified properly by a qualified medical practitioner before you can receive proper treatment.
Hypertension and constant elaborated state of fear and worry is a common trait in someone who suffers from generalized anxiety disorder even though there is no incidence to have provoked these feelings in the first place. A GAD sufferer will always be anticipating disaster, thinking about the worst case scenario even though no impending danger is in sight. This kind of attacks is rather tricky as it is rather hard to actually direct the exact cause to a certain source and thus finding the cure.
But in order for one to properly determine the actual occurrence of general anxiety disorder, the symptoms has to last for at least a few days within a time frame of 6 months. Upon these observation, only then can one be sure of actually being suffering from general anxiety disorder and only then proper medication can be prescribed by the doctor to treat this mental disorder.
These are perhaps the early warning symptoms of GAD. Other types of generalized anxiety disorder symptoms are excessive amounts of anxiety and worry. These feelings can persist for many days up to a few months. The chronic anxiety and worry can occur due to any event or activity that you will be participating in. These feelings of worry are difficult to control for the GAD sufferer.
In order to fully determine the occurrence of general anxiety disorder, some of the physical symptoms must also be present within the six months observation period. Some of the physical signs may be feelings of agitation, fatigue, a lack of concentration. Mentally we may also feel lethargic, easily irritated, tensile behaviors, irritated sleeping patters and at times the mind will be blank.
A critical sufferer of general anxiety disorder will go on to worry about him or her not having panic attacks, separation anxiety, excess compulsive disorder, and also gaining a large amount of weight. He or she may also have multiple grievances about a series of illnesses or even life threatening sickness.
